Thousands Of Bones From Dozens Of Humans Discovered At Vatican In Search For Missing Teen

The remains were discovered amid an ongoing investigation for clues as to the disappearance of 15-year-old Emanuela Orlandi over three decades ago. The girl was the daughter of a high-ranking Vatican employee who lived within the walls of the holy city. She disappeared while traveling home from a music lesson in Rome.

Forensic workers are now unearthing the bones from the burial chambers before subjecting them to DNA testing in a bid to establish their identities, a process that Vatican officials say could take an indeterminate amount of time to analyse.

The disappearance of the teenage girl has been of major interest to the people of Italy since it occurred, with many speculating that her disappearance may have been the result of conspiracies involving anyone from the mafia to the highest levels of the Roman Catholic officialdom headquartered at the papal enclave.

One theory even posits that she was the victim of a botched kidnapping operation whereby she was to be held at ransom to ensure the freedom of the ultra-nationalist Turkish gunman who shot and wounded Pope John Paul II in St. Peter’s Square in 1981.

Interest in the mystery of Orlandi’s disappearance was rekindled last summer when her family received an anonymous tip informing them that Emanuela’s remains were possibly located in the tombs of Princess Sophie von Hohenlohe and Princess Charlotte Federica of Mecklenburg at the Teutonic Cemetery, according to CNN.

The family received an image portraying a sculpture with the note, “look where the angel is pointing”—a hint that ultimately guided them to the Teutonic Cemetery alongside Saint Peter’s Basilica.

While the Vatican agreed to open the tombs earlier this month, no human remains or traces of coffins were found. Vatican officials claim that the princesses’ remains were removed during the 1960s and ‘70s during renovation work.

However, two ossuaries storing the bones of the dead were uncovered during the investigation.

Genetics expert Giorgio Portera, who has worked on behalf of the Orlandi family, told the Associated Press that the collection of bones “thrown into a cavity” underneath the Teutonic College amounted to an “enormous number,” and the find was unexpected. He also noted that many of the bones were found in fragments, which complicates their work.

Emanuela’s brother, 60-year-old Pietro Orlandi, noted that the discovery and subsequent investigation of the ossuaries has been of “great satisfaction” to his family. He told CNN:

“In the ossuaries, there shouldn’t be any recent bones, so if there are, even if it’s not Emanuela Orlandi, it will be a problem for the Vatican.

There are hundreds, thousands of bones and now the Vatican is classifying them by age and will investigate the more recent ones.

To think if she was buried in the ossuary all these years, just 200 meters from our house, it would be devastating.”

Continuing, he noted that the independence of the forensic investigators is crucial to ensure that objectivity remains uncompromised. He said:

“The Vatican doesn’t want this out and doesn’t want to be seen in this way, but finally I feel like they have taken a step back and we have moved a step forward.”

The Vatican made a statement on Saturday stressing “its openness toward the Orlandi family” in agreeing to the investigations, even if only based on an “anonymous report,” while making zero mention of the vast amount of remains discovered under the Teutonic Cemetery.

Kansas City Becomes First Major US City To Make Public Transportation Free

Fare-free public transportation has become an increasingly popular idea in recent years.

This week, Kansas City made history by becoming the first major city in the United States to have fare-free public transportation.

The move comes after the city council unanimously voted to endorse the “Zero Fare Transit” proposal to make all city bus routes fare-free, directing the city manager to develop and implement the plan. They city’s streetcar has been free since it first opened.

The free bus service, which is expected to cost the city roughly $8 million, does away with the previous ticket costs of $1.50 per ticket, or $50 for a monthly pass, reports WDAF.

Local officials have been framing the move not as “wasteful expenditures” or a “burden on taxpayers,” but as a good investment into the city.

City Councilman Eric Bunch framed the plan as a means to offer a strong helping hand to the city’s low-income residents, who rely on public transit to commute to work. According to KSHB, Bunch said:

“When we’re talking about improving people’s lives who are our most vulnerable citizens, I don’t think there’s any question that we need to find that money.

That’s not a ton of money and it’s money that we as a city, if we want to prioritize public transportation, it’s something that we can find.”

New Mayor Quinton Lucas has also strongly supported the plan, which is being greeted warmly by city residents. Bus rider Loren Miles said:

“I think it would make the bus system stronger, not weaker, and would probably bring in more revenue, not less.”

Some have criticized the move as short-sighted and expensive to taxpayers. Local resident Teresa Bradshaw questioned the plan, noting:

“If you take it away, then where are our taxes going to go? How high are the taxes? It’s got to come from somewhere.”

The editorial board of the Kansas City Star, which backs the new measure, argued that the money can easily be found elsewhere. In an editorial last month, they argued:

“A good first step would be to stop giving away tax revenue to developers. Other efficiencies, including elimination of fare boxes on buses, could help. So could reclaiming sales tax dollars now subsidizing the streetcar.”

Supporters have also argued that the move has myriad benefits; including strengthening the local economy overall and reducing the environmental impact of private transportation. Climate change protesters and livable city advocates across the world have demanded increased investment in mass transportation amid rising awareness of climate change.

Fare-free public transit has become an increasingly popular idea among cash-strapped urban residents in recent years, with cities including Denver and Salt Lake City openly floating the progressive idea in recent city elections.

Meanwhile, in cities across the U.S. such as Portland, Oregon, and New York City, municipalities have been spending their tax dollars installing cameras and hiring more transit police in order to crack down on and criminalize those evading their often-expensive transit fare.

A Mushroom Is Saving Millions Of Bees From A Deadly Virus

Researchers suspect the mushroom either boosts their immune system or somehow fights the viruses.

According to a recent study published in Nature Scientific Reports, a specific type of mushroom extract can help honey bees fight off a devastating virus that is suspected of contributing to massive bee die-offs in recent years.

The study was conducted by researchers at Washington State University, with help from the USDA and a Washington based business called Fungi Perfecti.

The researchers found that bee colonies that were given mycelium extract from amadou and reishi fungi saw a 79-fold reduction in deformed wing virus and a 45,000-fold reduction in Lake Sinai virus.

One of the paper’s authors, WSU entomology professor Steve Sheppard, says that he hopes this finding will make this deadly virus a thing of the past.

“Our greatest hope is that these extracts have such an impact on viruses that they may help varroa mites become an annoyance for bees, rather than causing huge devastation. We’re excited to see where this research leads us. Time is running out for bee populations and the safety and security of the world’s food supply hinges on our ability to find means to improve pollinator health. One of the major ways varroa mites hurt bees is by spreading and amplifying viruses. Mites really put stress on the bees’ immune systems, making them more susceptible to viruses that shorten worker bee lifespans,” Sheppard said.

Sheppard’s lab is working with a company called Fungi Perfecti, which is owned by the famous mushroom researcher Paul Stamets, who is also a co-author of the study.

Sheppard explained that, “Paul previously worked on a project that demonstrated the antiviral properties of mycelial extracts on human cells. He read about viruses hurting bees and called us to explore the use of the extracts on honey bees. After two years, we demonstrated that those anti-viral properties extend to honey bees.”

Unfortunately, the mycelium extract isn’t currently available in large quantities for mass distribution, but Stamets says that they are in the process of increasing their production volume.

“We are ramping up production of the extracts as rapidly as is feasible, given the hurdles we must overcome to deploy this on a wide scale,” Stamets said.

The researchers aren’t entirely sure how the extract works, but they suspect that it either boosts the immune system or somehow fights the viruses.

“We aren’t sure if the mycelium is boosting the bees’ immune system or actually fighting the viruses. We’re working to figure that out, along with testing larger groups of colonies to develop best management practices and determine how much extract should be used and when to have the best impact,” Sheppard explained.

If you ever felt like you would be interested in beekeeping, it is now easier than ever with simple new designs that allow people to enter the vocation with very little experience or exposure to the bees.

World’s First “Magic Mushroom” Microdosing Nasal Spray Announced

“I love our product and can’t wait until it’s legal in the United States.”

Pharmaceutical companies and other private entities have been making significant investments into psychedelic therapies, especially psilocybin, the active ingredient in many of the most popular “magic mushrooms.”

Psilocybin was first designated as a “breakthrough therapy” by the FDA last year.

And now, one company has an interesting psilocybin-based medicine for depression that they hope will soon be on the market. Silo Wellness‘ new product is a psilocybin nasal spray intended to be used for micro-dosing. The company says that consuming the substance as a nasal spray will help with some of the side effects typically associated with psilocybin, including nausea.

Silo Wellness CEO, Mike Arnold, said that the nasal spray allows for a more precise dose as well. In a press release Arnold explained:

“We need to be able to give patients predictable dosing so they can self-titrate into the desired levels of sub-psychedelic or psychedelic treatment. We solved the age-old problem with plant- and fungus-based medicine: How do you know how much is a dose? How do you avoid taking too much, like the cannabis edibles dilemma? We also managed to solve one of the common complaints of some mushroom users: taste and upset stomach.”

Despite the FDA’s “breakthrough” designation, the mushrooms that contain psilocybin are still federally illegal in the United States, although some jurisdictions—like Denver—have moved to decriminalize the substance. As a result of the legal status of psilocybin in the U.S., Silo Wellness was forced to develop its nasal spray in Jamaica.

“I love our product and can’t wait until it’s legal in the United States, so we can share it with crime victims and first responders,” Arnold said.

Silo Wellness co-inventor and pharmaceutical product developer, Michael Hartman, hinted that the product will be ready for the consumer market very soon.

“This isn’t a ‘plan’ to develop a product or a ‘plan’ to open a facility. We have real proof of concept and continued research and development underway—not just an idea,” Hartman said.

According to the company’s recent press release, they filed for a provisional patent application in July of this year. The patent is said to be filed under, “Metered dosing formulations of plant and fungal compounds for oral, nasal, sublingual, and topical use.”

Both Arnold and Hartman have previously worked in the legal cannabis industry. Arnold was a lawyer for the cannabis industry, while Hartman was the inventor of a cannabis inhaler called Mystabis.

“I never thought I would exit cannabis and pivot full time into psychedelics, but they changed my life. I want to share this medicine with the world by making it affordable and comfortable for all. National media didn’t care about psychedelics until Denver passed their decriminalization ballot measure. Before that, everyone thought I was crazy when I told them that we were entering the medicinal psychedelics space in advance of Oregon legalizing in 2020,” Arnold recalled.

Earlier this year, the FDA approved a ketamine-based nasal spray, also for the treatment of depression.

Activists Measured And Videotaped 5g Radiation Levels At Glastonbury Festival. It’s Not Pretty

The Telecom Industry has admitted they have no scientific evidence that 5G wireless is biologically safe and plenty of researchers say it isn’t (see 12).  Unfortunately, it’s still being promoted, installed, and unleashed in the U.S. and around the world despite widespread growing opposition.

Last month thousands of people signed a petition demanding a ban of 5G wireless at Glastonbury Festival.  Unfortunately, it was ignored and hundreds of thousands of attendees were exposed to this harmful technology whether they were aware of it or not.  Thanks to a group of activists who put their own health at risk to measure and videotape RF levels.

“During the festival itself, we heard reports that some people were experiencing classic symptoms associated with 5G radiation such as bad headaches, nose bleeds and stinging eyes.

Over the course of the weekend, Simo Zia made a series of videos in which tested the EMFs around the site. He found levels that he said were 1,000 times more than the natural voltage of the human body.”
